Windows Azure Engineer

As a Windows Engineer, you’ll focused on the Nike Retail and Corporate Infrastructure.  As part of the Consumer Infrastructure Solutions & Support Store Support team, you'll be responsible for the ongoing operations and infrastructure supporting the Point of Sale (POS) Application systems within over 700 Nike Retail stores globally. This includes everything from basic Factory Stores, to elaborate showcase stores, such as New York NikeTown and Santa Monica Field House. You'll ensure continued store operations for all stores are working as designed, as well as working through external Service Providers and internal teams in planning and executing store openings, remodels and closings.


In support of Nike's global retail focus, you'll contribute to the integration and engineering of the Nike POS systems, including working with geographic Retail teams to incorporate specific local requirements. You'll help focus on introducing technological innovations to support new Nike business initiatives and to increase efficiency within the store environment. Your subject areas will also work in conjunction with store operation teams for supporting handheld devices, payment terminals, kiosks, ticket printers, loss-prevention systems, work force management systems, etc. In addition, you'll work closely with the development, operations, business, and partner teams to ensure successful results.


Your support also covers Nike’s corporate environment in various technical field, such as Active Directory, common network services like DHCP,DNS,Wins…etc and work with Microsoft’s latest technologies, both on-premise and cloud basis. From data centers located globally to system running on multiple cloud providers, such as AWS, Windows Azure and AliYun cloud.

In addition to those general role responsibilities, you’ll need some specific experience and have some specific accountability, including:

  • Common skillset for Windows server system, such as a good understanding of AD, DNS, DHCP, WINS, IIS, file share services…etc.

  • Advanced expertise in Windows Azure:

    • AAD and its integration with on-premise enterprise authentication services

    • In-Depth knowledge on Windows Azure services and components

    • Azure Powershell script skill

    • Work with complex hybrid enterprise environment is a plus, experience of maintaining a backup/DR site in Azure is preferred

    • Experience of VM merging and migration to Windows Azure is a plus.

  • Design document creation and operational process documentation

  • Strong communication skills required (oral and written)

  • Ability to work with onshore/offshore teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting)

  • Ability to support working outside of normal business hours to provide after hour or "on-call" support when necessary to solve high profile issues or complete critical path projects

  • Project management and organizational skills must be sophisticated enough to be able to track and drive complex global technical initiatives to completion with the assistance of Retail IT/third party vendor staff

  • Candidate would benefit from application engineering and deployment/build experience

To make it clear, we’re not looking for just anyone.  We’re looking for someone special, someone who had these experiences and clearly demonstrated these skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • 5+ years' experience in Microsoft Infrastructure implementation and support

  • 2 years' additional experience required in advanced technologies like AD, System Center, Public Cloud and Script.

  • Microsoft certificate such as MCSE,MCITP preferred

  • Prefer experience in a Retail environment

  • Ability to pull a diverse group of individuals with different goals together and facilitate productive discussions

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment

  • Flexible, ability to deal with ambiguity, and a demonstrated desire for continuous personal growth

  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to motivate and mentor others within work group

  • Ability to work with onshore/offshore teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical IT teams

  • Experience with Lean principles and methods is preferred
