-Actively direct, manage and facilitate the development and commercialization of the higher technology and key models. Act as a consultant to serve WHQ category In-line team to make early recommendations on product construction techniques and tooling solutions and as an expert resource within the category during the Asian development phase to identify and alleviate potential manufacturing, efficiency or costing concerns on key models.
-Direct and manage the commercialization and initial production of category products. Working closely with offshore Mfg. Teams to ensure that products meet consumer expectations
-Collaborate with the EOD and DPE on a regular basis to develop best practice and process efficiency project agendas. Work closely with Category Management and act as the Engineering Lead on process efficiencies, quality and performance initiatives
-As the point person, drive innovation plans in support of category and infrastructure needs. Collaboratively work with NXT and MIT teams for the seamless transition of new technologies
-Work with functional engineering management to develop a strategic agenda for cross category projects. Find solutions, document and communicate on Cross-Categorical Initiatives to the functional Engineering Leadership teams and the Sr. Engineers
-Act as a mentor for engineers to provide technical trainings and support them to better prepare for future growth and challenges. Work closely with EOD, DPE and Category Management to develop a meaningful local training agenda in support of Product Creation Team member development
-Provide input and participate in Engineering Summits, long range planning meetings, product technology/feasibility studies and product comparisons and/or critiques.
-Help drive the Category In-line Innovation projects.
-Participate in sourcing discussions and provide assistance and advice on category sourcing profiles, technical assessment of factories and strategies.
-Provide technical training and consultation. (Provide training of local pattern or tooling classes. Provide new on-boarding training for engineers).
-Manage a number of direct reports.
-College degree in related technical/engineering field preferred. Additional experience required in lieu of a degree. A minimum of 8-10 year experience in a specialized category footwear technical capacity to include pattern engineering, development and production. Experience as a NIKE Product/Manufacturing Engineer preferred. Shoe factory experienced preferred.
-Demonstrated depth of knowledge of footwear pattern engineering process, Asian production and R&D processes. General knowledge of mold engineering required. Must be familiar with materials used in category specific footwear. Must know machinery used in the manufacturing of category footwear and expected results. Computer proficiency including CAD programs preferred.
-Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Work successfully across NIKE matrix and as a team. Strong team leader and team builder. Ability to provide guidance and advice within area of expertise. Sensitive to differing cultures, customs and business practices.
-Ability to understand of how engineering decisions affects category profitability including specific feedback on models.
-Deep familiarity with category construct, athlete and consumer insight.
