We at NIKE Canada are currently looking for an exceptionally talented Maintenance Manager for our Distribution Centre in Scarborough, ON.

Overview:

 

To provide leadership and direction on business processes that supports the effective and efficient distribution of products through Brimley Distribution Centre.

 

This role identifies, diagnoses, and repairs machinery and building systems within a timely manner to ensure the accurate and timely processing of merchandise throughout the facility focusing on the specific area of responsibility. Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the maintenance and facilities support staff. Sets priorities and coordinates work activities for the team to ensure task completion. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and legislation.

Business Expertise and Leadership:

 

Applies management expertise to set direction ad resolves problems in own discipline.

 

Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

 

Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.

 

To develop, document, and execute on maintenance plans which will drive optimal efficiency, effectiveness and profitability of Distribution Centre. Educate staff on policies and procedures while ensuring that safety guidelines are being followed to at all times.

 

Responsible for the motivation, development and evaluation of the team, including employee developmental, performance reviews, salary administration, and training. Demonstrate the ability to create and maintain strong business partnerships.

 

Delivering Solutions:

 

Identifies and resolves day to day technical and operational problems. Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines. Works within budgetary/financial objectives by following global vendor policies and managing vendor relationships.

 

Plan and coordinates all activities occurring within the Maintenance Department.  

Ensure that facility and all operating equipment therein is in good/safe working condition and ready production. Ensures that the preventive maintenance system is functioning and adhered to by team.

Provide coaching and leadership within the Nike Maxims to the team and foster and positive environment and climate.

Develop project plans and capital budgets within the leadership team and support throughout the lifecycle of the project. Manage and direct external trades and contractors while ensuring adherence to safety and minimizing corporate risk. Participate as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and provide leadership and support as required. .

Maintains facility documentation on all equipment facility systems. Ensures that the tool room equipment and the required tools are kept in good working condition and are readily available. Provide support within the continuous improvements program. Maintains spare part inventory and ensure supplier lead time and associated stock levels meet the requirements of the business. Maintain facility’s cleanliness which includes housekeeping, and safety improvements. Ensures compliance with the OHSA throughout

Drive service excellence and best practices across the distribution center by reducing cost year after year. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire team. Experience in planning, assessing and implementing change. Strong Team oriented leadership skills, superior communication and analytical skills.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline is deemed an asset with minimum 5 years relevant work experience in a Distribution Centre Maintenance environment.

  • Proven ability to lead team, plan and implement change; previous management or leadership experience of skilled trades.

  • A Valid Certificate of Qualification as Millwright or Electrician will be an asset.

  • Good communications skills, both written and oral in English.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Able to prioritize competing priorities.

  • Knowledgeable with legislated requirements of the OHSA.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD

  • Capacity to design and maintain a PM program for a unit sorter within a Distribution Centre environment.

  • Proficiency in Manhattan and SAP is an asset.

  • Ability to work cross functionally, multi task, problem solve and meet deadlines is critical.

  • Shift Flexibility will be required. Candidate will be required to lead the day shift and afternoon shift, depending on the needs of the business.
