Reporting to the SEA Financial Controller, you'll drive the development of a compliance framework across our Sales & Marketing organization & Global Stores within South East Asia. You will be responsible for managing the full range of compliance matters related to corporate governance, risk management and internal controls affecting the operations of our territory. This role will require you to provide leadership, influence and oversight support to our Finance and Cross-Functional team to ensure compliance with policy & procedures, SOX and ELCs. On an ad-hoc basis, you will be expected to play an active role in leading the development of regional compliance audits & initiatives.    

 

 

Core Accountabilities:

 

Lead and Drive Compliance Governance & Control Framework across Sales & Marketing organization in South East Asia


  • Audit readiness – constant state of preparedness with timely completion of controls and supporting evidence readily available
  • Align with Global/GEO Compliance Strategies and effectively communicate to ensure full understanding and execution of its strategic priorities 
  • Review and update SEA Entity Level Controls (ELCs) and risk assessments 
  • Lead and review SEA/Countries submission of SOX – Quarterly Controls Action Plan, i-Audit (Internal),etc
  • Regular review of key controls cycles (to align with EM Compliance manager).  Where applicable, update, roll out and communicate critical business & operations controls process and audit procedures to organizational-wide employees or targeted functional stakeholders (eg. SODs, P&Ps compliance, Inventory control procedures, etc)
  • Interpret internal & external business challenges and changes in the territory to recommend best practices, and implement viable solutions and process to consider any risk mitigating controls in place 
  • Lead and ensure key compliance training to raise level of awareness to support a sustainable compliance environment within SEA. (eg FCPA, US Export Controls, Keep it Tight, etc) including regular communications 

 

Lead and manage full range of compliance matters


Corporate Governance

  • Review and ensure completeness of all Nike-related intercompany legal agreements
  • Liaise with Legal and Country Finance to ensure completeness of company directorship in each of SEA responsible legal entities
  • Support on SEA corporate governance matters eg. Legal Entities governance matters, company directorship, Distributor/Partners’ management agreements.
  • Build and support a Corporate Governance database and documentation standards to trigger auto review and renewal by stakeholders
  • Disseminate and educate business partners on policies and procedures related to compliance activities throughout the territory

    

Risk Management

  • Evaluate and assess adequacy and effectiveness of SEA & Global stores country operations and environment to develop appropriate  compliance and risk mitigation strategies 
  • Regular monitoring of risk health checks and compliance procedures working across Finance functional stakeovers in our various country operations
  • Provide Training and raise Risk Management Awareness, not limiting to FCPA, Anti-Corruption and High Risk Exposure areas due to nature of various country operations

 

Internal Controls

  • Segregation of Duties (SODs) are in place and promote employee awareness 
  • Develop and monitor internal controls related to SOX, internal company policies (incl. Biz P&P) and local statutory regulations. Partner SEA FC to review on validating controls and operating procedures are in place
  • Provide training on compliance related topics policies & procedures including utilization of tools related to compliances.
  • Follow up on all controls violation and documentation
  • Create Finance self-audit procedures in key controls focus, eg Revenue Recognition, Retail DTC, Month End closing procedures and Accounts Reconciliations, etc  
  • Liaise with GEO Controlling/Compliance Manager on supporting key control hot topics and ensure compliance are in place
  • Support SEA FC in reviewing and addressing key controls priorities and further    
  • Strengthen with implementation eg Band Level Authorization (BLA); SOX, ELCs 


Requirements of the position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or a related field, with an emphasis in accounting or finance CPA (or equivalent professional accounting designation) and/or MBA with strong knowledge and experience with internal controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR)
  • 8-12 years' extensive experience in professional accounting and/or auditing (including Big 4) with a demonstrated leadership ability in progressing positions of responsibility
  • Proven great interpersonal relationship and/or leadership experience in a multi-national regional and managing cross-functional and matrix management and reporting is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP and strong knowledge of statutory compliance requirements
